Rock Legend Pete Townsend Visits Q104
Wednesday, July 28, 1999
One of rock`s most well-known figures, Pete Townsend, paid a visit to the studios of Q104 (WAXQ, 104.3 FM) today to chat with morning host Dan Neer and to publicize his forthcoming CD, "Pete Townsend Live: A Benefit for Maryville Academy".
For more than an hour this morning, Townsend gave an update on his musical ventures, shared his views on the Internet and other topics, and added some humorous anecdotes about his 35-year career in music. In a New York radio debut, Dan Neer spun a number of cuts from the live album, recorded at the House of Blues in Chicago and featuring lively performances of classics from the Who and from Pete`s solo career, and new material, including a contibution from Pearl Jam`s Eddie Vedder. "Pete Townsend Live" is scheduled for release in September on Platinum/House of Blues Records. Sales of the CD will benefit Maryville Academy, a Chicago-based non-profit organization which assists abused and neglected children.
Pete Townsend, Q104, and Platinum Entertainment, Inc. hosted an invitation-only listening party for "Pete Townsend Live" at The Supper Club on Manhattan's West 47th Street on Wednesday evening, July 28, 1999. Pete gave an intense one-hour-plus performance, joined about half way through by Vedder.
Pete Townsend and the Who will re-unite on November 19th for a benefit performance at the House of Blues in Chicago.
