History

   The first FM outlet of the Columbia Broadcasting System, this station went on the air on December 1, 1941 using the call letters W67NY on a frequency of 46.7 MHz. On November 1, 1943, its call letters were changed to WABC-FM to agree with CBS` AM station, whose call letters were derived from the name of WABC`s former owner, the Atlantic Broadcasting Company. The FM station moved to 96.9 MHz on the new FM band in 1946 and its call letters were changed to WCBS-FM on November 2, 1946. WCBS-FM moved to its present frequency, 101.1, on 9/21/47. Rock format 1969-72. Changed to rock 'n roll oldies format on 7/4/72. On Friday, June 3, 2005, WCBS-FM dropped its oldies format and adopted a Rock AC format as "Jack FM". WCBS-FM revived its oldies format on Thursday, July 12, 2007.
