History The origin of this station can be traced back to June 1, 1942, when W63NY signed on at a frequency of 46.3MHz. It was operated by the Marcus Loew Booking Agency (Loew`s/MGM), the parent company of the AM station WHN. By 1943, the call letters had changed to WHNF, and in December, 1946, the station moved to the new FM band as WMGM-FM on a frequency of 99.3, moving again in 1947 to 100.3. WMGM-FM remained on the air until February, 1955. The frequency was revived in July, 1961, when WVNJ-FM (easy listening) began broadcasting. The station became WHTZ (Z-100) on August 2, 1983.
