History | WHBI formerly appeared on this frequency, followed by WNWK, Multi-Ethnic format, which was purchased by Heftel Broadcasting (later Hispanic Broadcasting)and the format changed to Spanish. The WCAA call letters were adopted on 5/24/98. On 9/2/99, WCAA switched from Spanish-uptempto to "Latino Mix", a mix of Spanish salsa, merengue, and ballads. On September 22, 2003, WCAA and Hispanic Broadcasting`s other radio stations were transferred to new owner Univision Communications. Between January, 2004 and January, 2007, WCAA simulcast its programming on 92.7 WZAA. On May 27, 2005, WCAA shifted from "Latino Mix" to "La Kalle", featuring reggaetón and Latin hip-hop. On February 13, 2007, the station`s call letters were changed, in error, to WQBU, call letters intended for sister station WZAA. The call letters were changed back to WCAA February 23, 2007. |
Comments | On October 8, 2009, WCAA exchanged frequencies with WQXR, moving from 105.9 FM to 96.3 FM, while WQXR moved to this frequency. |
