History	Initially broadcasting on the Columbia University campus as CURC, named for the "Columbia University Radio Club", in 1941. The call letters WKCR were adopted in 1947, and off-campus broadcasting on the 89.9 FM frequency began in 1956.
Comments	WKCR, which transmitted from the World Trade Center between 1985 and September 11, 2001, broadcast at low power from the Columbia University area until September 12, 2003, when its transmitter at 4 Times Square went into service.
