History

WVNJ was heard on this frequency from December 7, 1948 until 1983 with a "Beautiful Music" format during most of that time.  The station was sold to Spanish Broadcasting in 1983; the call letters were changed to WSKQ on October 1, 1983 and a Spanish music format was adopted.  The call letters were again changed to WXLX on April 3, 1995. The station was sold to One-on-One Sports and became WJWR on October 6, 1997, featuring a sports and sports talk format.

One-on-One Sports was acquired by Paul G. Allen`s Vulcan Ventures in November, 2000.  On March 26, 2001, the network was rebranded as the Sporting News Radio Network and WJWR became WSNR. In early 2003, WSNR started brokering most of its weekday timeslots to ethnic and other programmers.

WSNR was sold to Blackstrap Broadcasting in October, 2007. It features Russian and other brokered-time programming during the week.

Comments

In 2015, WSNR was sold to Davidzon Radio, Inc. It continues to air Russian and brokered-time programming.
